Day 84: Nirvana

This pendant is finally finished with “Nirvana” and small red perforated ball components.

It may surprise you to know that I have been trying hard to make the perfect structure and perfect statement for Nirvana since Day 45 I guess the weight of the word, Nirvana should be made into something so special that it says “this is it!” But it turns out there is no such thing. Maybe I have had some improvement in my design, craftsmanship, ideas and the way of delivery but I have found that what I need to find does not exist. Just as Buddhism teaches us. Nirvana is a status where there is a cessation of desire so that there is no suffering. For me in an endless journey of life Nirvana is the stage we realise the truth, “everything is changing” 

So Like any other pieces I have produced as part of my new series of work, ”Pipe way” this is a pendant which happens to include the word Nirvana is inscribed as a component. 

니르바나와 작은 빨간 천공된 공 모양의 부품을 가진 이 팬던트가 마침내 완성되었다. Day 45.이후 나는 아마도 니르바나를 위한 완벽한 구조와 작가 진술서를 만들기위해 애써왔는지도 모른다 니르바나라는 말이 주는 무게감으로 “바로 이거야!”라고 할 만한 특별한 무언가를 만들어야 한다고 생각했었다. 그렇지만 그럴만한 무언가가 없는 것으로 결론지어지게 된다. 내 디자인이나, 만드는 기술, 아이디어 와 그것을 실현시키는 방법등이 향상된 것은 사실이지만 다시 말하건대 내가 발견해야만 하는 것은 어디에도 존재하지 않았다. 부처님의 가르침이 바로 그것이다. 니르바나란 욕망이 멈추어 고통을 느끼지 않는 상태이다. 나에게 그것은 끝없는 생의 여정에 “모든 것은 변한다(무상)”는 진실을 깨닫게 하는 상태이다. 

그래서 내가 “파이프 웨이”라는 새로운 시리즈의 작업으로 생산한 모든 다른 작품들처럼 이것 또한 니르바나라는 단어가 새겨진 부품을 우연히 포함한 팬던트일 뿐이다.
