Chain nose plier

Chain nose plier

This was the first tool I bought from KD and the last addition to my plier collection. I hadn’t known about chain nose pliers until I started working in jewellers' supplies. With their tapered jaws, they let me bend wire, open jump rings, and work in tight spaces flat nose pliers can’t reach.

The one pictured says “Made in Germany” but has no brand like Antilope, which is made in Solingen—near Düsseldorf, where I did a residency in 2006. Known as the “City of Blades,” Solingen is famous for precision tools, so mine was likely made elsewhere in Germany, but still holds quality.

What I love most is how this plier fits in my hand—the weight, the quiet click, the precision. Over two years, it’s become more than a tool: it’s steady, reliable, and intimately tied to my making process. In its quiet grip, there’s control, rhythm, and trust.
