Deep Pool Hex Inlay Earrings

Deep Pool Hex Inlay Earrings
These earrings explore the meeting of metals. A hexagonal silver element sits within a perforated mild steel oval dome, powder-coated in Deep-pool. The silver is infused into the steel, forming a subtle union between industrial and precious material.
Back in stock — and back where it belongs. These earrings are not just pieces that once sat quietly in a gallery display. They carry the confidence, persistence, and passion that live inside my studio practice. Every piece I make holds that energy. Starting with perforated mild steel sheet, four oval shapes are cut. A hexagonal element of sterling silver is placed and soldered at the centre of two ovals before the metal is formed into oval domes using a dapping block and punch. The domed halves are then soldered together, creating a light yet structurally strong hollow form. Finally, sterling silver round wire is used as an inlay on the back of the other two ovals. The deep-pool blue powder coating is applied one by one by a long-time Melbourne collaborator, giving the surface its rich colour and soft strength. Look closely and you will see that the front and back hold different patterns, revealing small moments of surprise as they move — light, sculptural, and quietly assertive.
